Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus was renamed the chief advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government after the meeting chaired by President Mohammed Shahabuddin, military leaders, and student leaders. Bangladesh is experiencing an uncertain and unforeseen situation, with ongoing protests and over 400 deaths. It happened when former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down from the ruling government, as the current situation in the country became unrest due to the surpassing rate of death.

Hours before, protestors stormed and banged on the residential place of the former PM in the capital Dhaka; Ms. Sheikh Hasina immediately resigned and fled to the neighbouring country, India. To handle the extreme situation and counter the ongoing challenges, Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus steps up to handle the chaos and regain peace for the nation.

Muhammad Yunus is a Nobel Bangladeshi entrepreneur, banker, economist, and civil society leader. Yunus received the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for pioneering work in microcredit and microfinance. In 2009, he was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom. From 2012 to 2018, Yunus served as the Chancellor of Glasglow Caledonian University in Scotland. Despite fighting the legal challenges he faced, Yunus continues to be known for his groundbreaking work toward society’s welfare.

Yunus’s dedication and compassion towards student welfare have led his journey, and he supported government forces. Prof Muhammad Yunus shared, “When the students who sacrificed so much request me to step in at this difficult juncture, how can I refuse?”

People expect Muhammad Yunus to assume a highly authoritative position and help establish peace among the nation’s residents, paving the way for a Bangladesh interim government and fresh elections.
