In late 2024, the Indian government seized the Starlink satellite internet equipment in the East district of Imphal, Manipur. The government raised concerns that terrorists may have been illegally using this technology to communicate with cadres in remote locations.
Following this, Starlink turned off its satellite beams over India, which SpaceX CEO (Chief Executive Officer) confirmed. Starlink’s app is available to download in India, but the company first needs to clear regulatory challenges.
