According to the Global Times, China’s auto production and sales witnessed a sharp growth in the auto industry. The news agency further mentioned that, in 2024, China produced 31.28 million vehicles and sold 31.44 million, marking year-on-year increases of 3.7% and 4.5%, respectively. These figures set new records and exceeded 30 million units for the second year. China’s total auto production and sales have held the top global spot for 16 consecutive years.

Further, as per the data of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), domestic passenger car sales total 22.61 million units, reflecting a 3.1% increase. Exports surged to 4.96 million units, marking a 19.7% rise. However, sales of traditional fuel-powered passenger cars fell by 2.49 million units, reaching 11.56 million, a 17.4% decline compared to the previous year.

Moreover, the CAAM also stated that in 2024, Chinese-branded passenger sales reached 17.97 million units, marking a 23.1% increase compared to the previous year and representing 65.2% of China’s total passenger car market sales.
