In the latest turn of events, Chinese company Baidu launched two AI models to increase its presence in the AI space and rival DeepSeek. Moreover, the company claims they have developed AI models with high emotional intelligence and deep thinking ability.
The company mentioned that its AI model, “ERNIE X1 delivers performance on par with DeepSeek R1 at only half the price.” Moreover, they further mentioned that their X1 model can think deeply and use the tools autonomously.
The company further added that the X1 has ‘stronger understanding, planning, reflection, and evolution capabilities.” Further, the company’s latest foundation model, ERNIE 4.5, is equipped with a multi-model understanding ability and can understand network memes and satirical cartoons.
Baidu mentioned that the “ERNIE 4.5 has excellent multimodal understanding ability. It has more advanced language ability, and its understanding, generation, logic, and memory abilities are comprehensively improved.”
Baidu, one of China’s first tech giants to introduce a ChatGPT-style chatbot, has faced challenges in achieving widespread adoption for its Ernie large language model. Despite performance claims on par with OpenAI’s GPT-4, it struggles amid intense competition.
