Asian Paints has a new director. Shubhlakshmi Dani joins as an Additional and Non-Executive Director starting July 29, 2026. The Board signed off on it unanimously during a meeting in Mumbai, following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
The appointment kicks in right away. But there’s a catch: for her to stay on as a Non-Executive Director who retires by rotation, shareholders need to vote yes first, and that’ll happen through a postal ballot. More details on that are expected soon. The company also filed the required disclosure with BSE and NSE, as SEBI rules demand, and R J Jeyamurugan, the CFO and Company Secretary, signed off on it.
So who is she? Dani currently runs things as Whole-Time Director at Shubhit Holdings, an RBI-registered NBFC. Her job there covers a lot: governance, strategy, operations, compliance, keeping an eye on investments, all built around one idea: protecting family wealth long-term. She’s also worked full-time with the SHD Family Office (that’s the Hasit Dani family office) since April 2020.
She didn’t stop at finance, either. She co-founded Life is Beautiful, a lifestyle brand selling home products made in India. And on the giving-back side, she’s chaired philanthropy at Geeta Seva Kitchen since 2022, an effort centred on food security in Mumbai. Since early 2025, she’s also sat on the Executive Directors Advisory Council at Boston Conservatory, part of Berklee College of Music. She also heads philanthropic work at Paramarth Charitable Trust.

Education-wise, she has a B.Com in Finance from Sydenham College. She’s part of the Promoter Group, married to former director Hasit Dani, and sister-in-law to current director Malav Dani.
