The Agile Visionary Revolutionising Organisational Change with BTX

Ugeng Wijaya

Co- Founder and Partner

Board of Transformation and Excellence (BTX)

The traditional consulting approaches were often too detached from real-world execution. This left organisations with strategies that lacked practical application. With the Board of Transformation and Excellence (BTX), Ugeng Wijaya is filling this gap. A career that evolved from project management to executive leadership and Agile coaching helped Ugeng recognise that transformation requires more than just high-level strategies. Hence, his strategies are designed to focus on implementation and adaptability at every level of an organisation. At BTX, Ugeng leverages these experiences to focus on co-creating solutions that are not only strategic but also actionable and adaptable to the constantly evolving business landscape. With expertise in business agility, innovation management, and digital transformation, Ugeng has spoken at over 50 global conferences, sharing insights on driving business change. His work is centred around delivering tangible results that enable organisations to thrive in a fast-paced, tech-driven world. In this exclusive interview, Ugeng discusses his approach and how he is shaping the future of organisational transformation.

What’s the toughest challenge you’ve faced in leading digital transformation, and how did you overcome it?

The most complex challenge I encountered was overcoming resistance to change during a large-scale digital transformation. With scepticism, misaligned priorities, and fears of job disruption, it was crucial to gain buy-in. I tackled this by embracing agile principles—ensuring transparent communication, focusing on quick wins, and aligning stakeholders through interactive workshops. By creating a sense of ownership and addressing concerns head-on, I learnt that successful transformation is about empathy, clear messaging, and strategic collaboration.

How does BTX stand out from traditional consulting firms in delivering transformation strategies, and what value do you bring to your clients?

We at BTX prioritise agility, cultural sensitivity, and measurable results. Unlike traditional consulting firms that rely on standardised frameworks, we actively partner with clients to co-create strategies tailored to their unique challenges. We focus on building internal capabilities, equipping clients with the tools, skills, and mindsets needed for sustained transformation. Our approach empowers clients to drive and maintain change independently, ensuring lasting value beyond our engagement.

What key lessons from your international speaking engagements have shaped your consulting strategies?

My international speaking engagements have deeply influenced my consulting strategies by broadening my perspective on innovation and transformation. They’ve taught me the importance of exchanging ideas and learning from diverse experiences. These engagements push me to stay at the forefront of global trends while ensuring that I bring fresh insights to my clients. Additionally, writing a book on innovation, distributed globally, has reinforced my belief in making knowledge accessible and impactful. Both speaking and writing allow me to share lessons that empower organisations worldwide, ultimately shaping the strategies I use to inspire and guide transformation.

How do you define agile leadership, and how do you align it with organisational goals?

To me, agile leadership is about adaptability, empowerment, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. It’s not only about reacting to change but also proactively encouraging experimentation, innovation, and feedback. To align agile leadership with organisational goals, I focus on clarity and alignment by setting a clear vision and measurable objectives. This ensures every action supports long-term goals. I also promote psychological safety, empowering teams to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and take calculated risks, making agile leadership a dynamic, evolving approach.

How do you make transformation measurable and tangible for organisations?

Transformation at BTX becomes tangible through precise, measurable steps. We break down complex transformation goals into clear OKRs and actionable milestones, ensuring progress is trackable and impactful. Whether improving efficiency, engagement, or growth, we align every initiative with specific, quantifiable results. Data analytics and visual tools track progress, while storytelling bridges the gap between strategy and reality, helping clients see and feel the difference. By making transformation measurable and relatable, we help organisations realise their goals and build lasting change.
