According to a blog post from the company, Microsoft has appointed Carolina Dybeck Happe, former CFO of General Electric, as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. The role had been vacant for the past eight years, and Happe has now officially assumed the position, Microsoft confirmed via email to CFO Dive.
As COO, Happe will focus on enhancing Microsoft’s business operations and driving its company-wide AI transformation efforts, according to CEO and Chairman Satya Nadella. “Her leadership will help accelerate our AI platform shift as we continue to evolve in response to new technological paradigms,” Nadella said in the announcement.

Microsoft aims to leverage Happe’s experience in overseeing transformations as it positions itself at the forefront of the growing AI industry. Nadella emphasised that Microsoft’s leadership in the tech world has been sustained by its ability to continually reinvent itself, adding, “Once again, we are seizing the opportunity to lead this shift toward AI.”
Happe’s appointment comes as Microsoft continues its push to be a leader in AI innovation, strengthening its position in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
