Elon Musk has openly supported the possibility of a SpaceX merger, potentially bringing together two companies with a combined valuation of around $3.7 trillion. The merger of the electric-vehicle manufacturer and the aerospace company could form a technology giant worth approximately $3.5 to $3.7 trillion, uniting businesses across electric vehicles, energy storage, satellite communications, space exploration, and artificial intelligence computing.
Analysts suggest that a merger could give him control of the combined company, further strengthening his influence over both businesses. SpaceX develops space launch vehicles and Starlink internet satellites, while also offering secure satellite communications networks to governments, including the United States, through its Starshield division.

Elon has also pushed to strengthen his control over Tesla as the company broadens its focus beyond electric vehicles to include artificial intelligence and robotics. He holds close to 20% of Tesla’s shares and exercises voting control at SpaceX, making corporate governance and ownership control key factors in any potential merger.
