Taiwanese electronics company Wistron has opened its first manufacturing factory in the United States. The new 324,000-square-foot plant is in Fort Worth, Texas, and is a $700 million investment. The factory will build NVIDIA’s latest AI superchips, including the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip. It will also make the next-generation Vera Rubin Superchip. NVIDIA said the Fort Worth plant is the first place in the U.S. to build and mass-produce the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip.Â
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang attended the opening ceremony with Wistron Chairman Simon Lin. Huang said manufacturing is important for the US economy and that new factories like this help create jobs and strengthen American industry. The factory currently has two production lines and is expected to make tens of thousands of AI computing boards every month later this year. Wistron designed and tested the factory in a virtual digital model before construction, helping improve the production process and train workers.Â
The Project has already created more than 500 jobs, and Wistron plans to increase that number to 1000 employees by the end of the year. During the event, Huang signed the first GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip built at the factory. He called the AI system powered by the chip “the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world.“
The Fort Worth Factory is part of NVIDIA’s plan to produce up to $500 billion worth of AI systems in the United States. The company says the investment will help build stronger supply chains, create skilled jobs, and support the growing demand for AI technology.
