Every great journey begins with a single step, but the most remarkable ones are defined by the willingness to keep moving forward, no matter how the road twists. For Diego Edgardo Martin Camacho, technology has always been that journey — a path of discovery, challenge, and transformation that has carried him from local development teams in Buenos Aires to global leadership in travel tech. Diego’s career began with hands-on coding and problem-solving at companies like TMF Group, Algoliq, and Buxis. These early years gave him the foundations of technical mastery and the curiosity to push boundaries. As he advanced to roles at Globant, Hexacta, and InAllMedia, he learned to balance architecture with user-centred design, laying the groundwork for his leadership style. His trajectory expanded internationally through leadership roles at Mobile I Business, Making Sense, Best Day Travel, Salesforce, The Climate Corporation, and SOCi. Along the way, he became known not only for his technical depth but for building high-performing teams that embraced innovation in AI, cloud, and DevOps. Today, as CTO of Plataforma10, part of Travelier, he is helping redefine intercity travel by harnessing AI to create seamless, userfirst experiences. In this exclusive interview with TradeFlock, Diego shares his challenges, achievements, and vision for the future of technology and travel.
When I think back, three lessons stand out. One is the importance of technical depth and curiosity. Staying hands-on and asking questions has kept me learning and helped me make decisions that go beyond the surface. Another comes from working in very different industries and cultures. I’ve had a front-row seat to big wins and painful failures, and both have shaped how I approach challenges. And maybe the most defining lesson has come from watching other leaders. I’ve borrowed what felt authentic, avoided what didn’t, and along the way I’ve come to value emotional intelligence and clear communication as the real foundation of strong leadership.
I believe we need to shift the narrative. AI is not an adversary; it is our new professor, our quiet mentor. Very soon, companies will not only be hiring coders, but professionals who can think across languages and layers, working side by side with AI as both a creative and technical amplifier. Success will be less about syntax and more about learning how to collaborate with intelligence itself.
The biggest challenge was getting the company technologically ready to scale. That meant modernising our tech stack, making the platform far more robust, and most importantly, building testing environments that could handle everything — from dayto-day operations to complex scenarios like purchases and payment processing. It took deep technical work, persistence, and a strong sense of teamwork. But because the entire tech team pulled together, we now get to see and enjoy the very real benefits of what we built.
As part of Travelier, a global leader in non-air transportation, Plataforma10 works with both local goals and broader group-wide objectives. Finding the right balance is always a challenge. They are technically demanding, but just as importantly, they call for strong coordination, cross-cultural collaboration, and thoughtful human leadership. Leading these efforts lets me contribute beyond the local level while shaping initiatives with real global impact.
One trend that feels overhyped is the push to add chat interfaces into existing user flows under the promise of simplicity. In practice, layering conversational UI on top of legacy experiences often creates more noise than clarity. At Plataforma10, we put the user at the centre—not just as the recipient of features, but as the starting point for innovation. Our goal is not to stack on more functions, but to reimagine the entire journey. That’s why we are investing in AI as a way to unlock new interactions, deeper personalisation, and real value that goes beyond today’s paradigms. The real transformation in intercity travel will not come from doing more, but from designing less—and doing it better.
